Cats are usually good at keeping themselves clean however the ears can be hard for them to get at. Just check the cats ears every so often for excessive wax or ear mites. If your cat has ear mites it's best to seek veterinary care as soon as possible to prevent infection and hearing loss. The vet usually prescribes ear drops, and they really aren't very expensive. If in doubt, ask your vet. See attached video also where a vet shows you how to clean cats ears.
