Crosssing a cheque is when you write "& Co." across the cheque front. This means the cheque can only be cashed to an account connected to the intended recipient of the cheque. So if they loose the cheque another person who finds it can not walk into a bank and exchange it for cash. It has to be logded to an account and cleared before withdrawl.
