Killarney National Park became Ireland's first national park and to this day it remains the largest. The park itself covers over 25,000 acres (10,000 hectares) of mountain. It all started in 1932 when The Muckross Estate was offered over to the state, in memory of Senator Vincent's late wife. Senator Arthur Vincent and his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Bowers Bourn, presented the state with the Killarney National Park. Answered by plex 1 month ago
